Nuclear Neighbors BETA Encounter Survival

Toilet creature, police rats, Hatman, Skeleto, fridge beans, and crickets — what the badges actually prove.

Random Encounters

Nuclear Neighbors BETA sells itself in one sentence after the nuke: live in a bunker, scavenge loot, survive disturbing and weird encounters. The encounters are not a side mode. They are how most runs end, how most funny clips start, and how a large chunk of the badge list is written. This page is the field manual. Named neighbors have deeper roster entries — Hatman, Skeleto, cryptids — and you should rank them on the encounter tier list after you have actually met them.

This is a public BETA on Roblox with 20-player servers. Event timing can desync, jump, or fail to fire. If a page on the internet claims a 100% spawn recipe, treat it as a rumor until a badge description or a changelog agrees.

Why random events matter

Day badges ask you to last. Encounter badges ask you to touch the weird systems without wiping the day count. You can play around events or through them. Long survival on How to Survive usually means playing around them. Completionists open the badge checklist and play through them on purpose, one at a time, on Normal — not on DEADLY, and not during a Help me grind.

Toilet creature

Toilet troubles is the jumpscare: get jumpscared by the toilet creature. It is the most awarded encounter badge by a wide margin, which means the bathroom is not a safe joke. Use the toilet because the bunker is a home, then leave. Do not stand on the fixture waiting for a scare during day 1. If it hits, survive the scare, check that you still have a day going, and go back to the loot loop from Getting Started.

The creature is a reason to learn Controls before you need them. A jumpscare is a bad moment to discover you were fighting the camera.

Police rats

BUSTED means you got busted by the police rats. They are an encounter, not a role-play police department with a published schedule. If rats appear, break contact and get back to the bunker. Do not farm a bust on a 50-day save unless you already accepted the wipe. Other players on the 20-person server can aggro them into your hallway; call it in chat.

Hatman

Hatman the badge is simple: get taken by Hatman. Being taken is the tracked event. That makes Hatman a run-ender more than a pet. Do not walk into him to “see the cutscene” on a badge you care about. If you want the taken badge, run a throwaway Normal session. Details, behavior notes, and what players report after the grab live on the Hatman page. This hub only needs one rule: if you see him during a clean survival push, you are no longer looting houses — you are leaving.

Skeleto

Skeleto multiplies. GET AWAY is survive five days without multiplying him. The badge text is the mechanic: there is an action that multiplies Skeleto, and you can avoid it. We will not invent the exact click that causes the split, because the public BETA still moves and because fake steps are worse than no steps. Practical rule: if a skeleton neighbor is in play, do not experiment. Keep distance, do not treat him like a toy, and read Skeleto before a “what if I poke it” moment.

A multiplied Skeleto is a raid on your day count. GET AWAY is easier on a quiet Normal camp than on a full server of people who think duplication is comedy.

Fridge and beans

The mysterious fridge is a bunker station and an encounter generator.

  • Midnight Snack — get five beans in a row from the mysterious fridge.
  • Rotten beans — slay the mutated beans can.

Fridge beans are a reward streak, not a grocery cheat. Five in a row is luck plus repetition; it is not a confirmed pity timer. If a mutated can appears, that is a fight badge, not a snack. Slay it if you can do it without dumping the day. If you cannot, close the encounter and eat something you already stashed. The dedicated station page is fridge and beans. Food strategy still belongs on How to Survive; this page only tells you the fridge is allowed to bite.

Crickets and leftovers

Awkward.. wants 10 crickets to spawn during the cricket random event. Award count is zero, which means either the event is rare, the count is strict, or the BETA has not lined up the spawn with the badge yet. Do not pause a 50-day run to farm insects on a theory. If crickets start landing, stay in the event and count; if they do not, leave it for a dedicated session.

Other encounter-adjacent badges sit on the edge of this list: Bats? nah friend (get the vampire friend), Child of Radiation, and cryptid hunting. Those are closer to Endings and the cryptids roster than to a hallway jumpscare. Spin the wheel is not an encounter; it is a reward roll, and it is still more real than promo codes, which remain unconfirmed.

Handle encounters by naming them, limiting experiments to cheap runs, and sending the named ones to their roster pages. The neighborhood out there is houses, bunker, and wasteland — see the map — but the things that walk into that space are why the BETA feels like a horror comedy instead of a quiet loot sim.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Nuclear Neighbors BETA players.

What is the most common encounter badge?

Toilet troubles, the toilet creature jumpscare. It is common enough that the bathroom is a known risk, not a secret.

How do I stop Skeleto from ruining a run?

Do not multiply him. GET AWAY is five days without that happening. Read Skeleto and avoid experimental clicks during serious day pushes.

Should I let Hatman take me?

Only on a throwaway run if you want the Hatman badge. On a day 10+ save, leave. Full notes are on the Hatman page.

Is the mysterious fridge safe?

No. It can hand you beans (Midnight Snack is five in a row) or escalate into mutated beans you have to slay (Rotten beans). Use it as a gamble, not as a free pantry.

Why is Awkward.. still at zero awards?

The cricket event must spawn 10 crickets in one go. That has not lined up for anyone yet in the public BETA. Treat it as unsolved, not as a missing button.

Where do I rank these threats?

On the encounter tier list. Use How to Survive for day strategy and Endings if the event looks like a route instead of a jumpscare.
